Ease Of Distribution

Post  admin on Tue 20 Jul 2010, 7:43 am

Multimedia and print media have different methods of distribution. Where print media must be copied either by hand or printer, multimedia can be duplicated on a computer. Files of multimedia can be compressed and multiple files can be stored on a single storage device, and can be sent from computer to computer or can be shared for anyone to access via internet, intranets or direct connections, whereas print media must be handed out or mailed. It requires the user of the IS to have access to the internet.

Print media however can be more flexible to access since most people spend the majority of their time without access to a computer. This allows for a larger range of choices available for the person accessing the information as they are able to, for example, read a magazine or newspaper article on the train as opposed to having to carry a laptop around with wireless internet. However the physical space and weight it causes may be a disadvantage.
